What Are Binaural Beats?
A binaural beat is created by playing a different tone in each ear and the interference pattern between the slightly differing frequencies creates the illusion of a beat. It's intended to be heard through headphones, so there's no cross-channel bleed across both ears. Your brain detects the variation between the frequencies and tries to reconcile that difference. In doing so, as the two frequencies mesh in and out of phase, your brain creates its own third signal — called a binaural beat — which is equal to the difference between those two frequencies. Research has proven that listening to a binaural beat will cause the brain to begin resonating in tune with that frequency difference.
Brainwave Entrainment
Brainwaves are electrical activity patterns caused by the neurons of the brain communicating with each other. They provide an indication of the mental state of an individual and are divided into four main categories: the Beta waves, emitted when we are consciously alert, or when we feel agitated or tense; the Alpha waves, when we are in a state of physical and mental relaxation; the Theta waves, associated with a state of drowsiness and reduced consciousness; and the Delta waves, when deep sleep occurs. By introducing a specific harmoniously layered blend of frequencies (binaural beats) to your brain you can effortlessly achieve powerful states of focused concentration, deep relaxation and more, all while stimulating parts of your brain to synchronize, thus entraining your brainwaves.
